The Lower Primary Teacher is responsible for delivering quality education to learners in Grades 1–3 in line with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). The role ensures holistic development through effective teaching, assessment, and comprehensive learner support.
Responsibilities and Duties
Prepare and implement lesson plans and schemes of work in accordance with CBC guidelines.
Deliver engaging and learner-centered lessons across assigned subjects.
Assess, record, and report learners’ academic progress and development.
Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
Identify learners’ individual needs and provide appropriate support.
Maintain discipline and effective classroom management.
Develop and utilize teaching and learning materials.
Participate in co-curricular activities and school programs.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians on learners’ progress.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date academic and administrative records.
Adhere to school policies, procedures, and safeguarding standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
P1 Certificate, Diploma in Primary Education, or Diploma in ECDE from a recognized institution.
Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
At least 2 years’ experience teaching in lower primary (Grades 1–3).
Sound knowledge and practical application of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
