The National Crime Research Centre (NCRC) is a state corporation with the objective of carrying out research into the causes of crime and its prevention and to disseminate research findings to Government Agencies. This is the entry and training grade for the Legal Officer cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of a designated supervisor.
Responsibilities
Implementing policies, standards, and guidelines in respect to the legal function.
Drafting legal opinions, agreements, contracts, and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
Supporting negotiation of contracts/agreements.
Supporting management of intellectual property rights, grantmanship, and data protection aspects of the Centre.
Obtaining information required on case files and communicating to the supervisor.
Identifying legal and compliance risks.
Providing and interpreting legal information.
Participating in policy development.
Requirements and Specifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB) from a recognized and accredited institution.
Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
Member of the Law Society of Kenya.
Valid practicing certificate from a relevant professional body where applicable.
Proficiency in computer application skills.
Clearance Documents
Successful candidates may be required to submit clearance certificates from the following bodies:
Kenya Revenue Authority (Valid Tax Compliance Certificate)
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Certificate of Good Conduct)
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (Self-Declaration Form)
Credit Reference Bureau (Certificate of Clearance or Credit Report)
