Laikipia University is seeking a Lecturer in Religion to join the academic staff. Reporting to the Chairperson of the Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, research leadership, and administrative contributions within the department and school.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teach and train students at both undergraduate and graduate levels in Religion.
Supervise and mentor both students and staff in their area of specialization.
Lead research and innovation teams.
Provide strategic leadership in the development, audit, and review of academic programs.
Serve as a member of the Departmental and School academic boards.
Develop teaching programs and learning materials.
Solicit research funds and participate in funded research activities.
Participate in the administration and management of departmental programs and activities.
Create networks, linkages, collaborations, and partnerships with local, regional, and international organizations.
Participate in research conferences and seminars.
Publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals.
Assist in the development of the departmental budget.
Develop research/innovation products for income generation.
Manage and administer examinations and assessments.
Offer career guidance and mentorship.
Qualifications and Specifications
Candidates must meet the requirements for one of the following two paths:
Option 1:
An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in Religion from an accredited and recognized university.
A minimum of two (2) articles published in refereed journals.
Registered or registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
Option 2:
A Master’s degree in Religion from an accredited and recognized university.
At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level or in a research/industrial setting.
A minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points, with at least sixteen (16) points from refereed journal papers.
Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
Evidence of registration for a PhD and progress on the same.

Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI)
Registered Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
Commission for University Education (CUE) (for certificates from foreign universities)
Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010
