Lecturer Physical Education

Key Responsibilities

• Teach and evaluate/assess courses in Physical Education at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Conduct research to inform knowledge, policy, and practice.
• Develop proposals to attract research funding.
• Disseminate research findings through publications in peer-reviewed journals, monographs, policy briefs, conferences, and other creative works.
• Develop innovations, inventions, and register patents.
• Supervise and examine undergraduate and graduate projects, tutorials, practicals/practicums, and field attachment sessions.
• Provide mentorship and career counseling to students and junior staff.
• Initiate and execute research projects.
• Collaborate with academic faculty on curriculum development and review.
• Collaborate with the industry and other stakeholders for consultancy services in their areas of expertise.
• Establish partnerships, linkages, and networks through projects and source donors for community projects.
• Provide professional and community service.
• Perform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements for Appointment

• A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent degree from a recognized institution in the relevant specialization, OR a Master's degree in the relevant field from a recognized university with at least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level or six (6) years in research or industry.
• Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
• Demonstrated ability for university teaching and research.
• Participation in conferences and similar learned fora.
• A minimum of six (6) publication points, of which at least four (4) should be from refereed journal papers for Master's holders, or four (4) publication points of which at least two (2) should be from refereed journal papers for PhD holders.
• An applicant for the position of Research Fellow shall have an additional two (2) publication points which should be from refereed journal papers.
