South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) is looking to recruit a Lecturer Grade 6a in the field of Geotechnical/Structural Engineering. This position is open to academic professionals who meet the stringent requirements for appointment in either the PhD or Master's degree categories. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, research, and the development of the engineering department.
Requirements for Appointment
Candidates must fulfill the requirements of either Option A or Option B below:
Option A: PhD Entry Path
An earned PhD in Civil Engineering or an equivalent degree qualification in the relevant area from a recognized and accredited university.
Registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) with a valid membership certificate.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Must satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
Option B: Master’s Degree Entry Path
A Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant area from an accredited and recognized University.
At least three (3) years of experience in research, teaching, or industry.
A minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points, of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
Registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) with a valid membership certificate.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Must satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lecturing and conducting tutorials for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Geotechnical and Structural Engineering.
Conducting high-impact research and contributing to scholarly publications.
Supervising students during their research projects and academic attachments.
Participating in curriculum development and review to meet industry standards.
Upholding the professional and ethical standards required by the university and the Engineers Board of Kenya.
