Job Description
The Laboratory Technologist I (Physiochemical Analysis) is a position within the National Quality Control Laboratory (NQCL), a State Corporation under the Ministry of Health dedicated to the quality control of medicines. Working under the supervision of a senior officer, the technologist is responsible for maintaining laboratory protocols, implementing quality management systems, and ensuring the accurate analysis of Health Products and Technologies (HPTs).
Responsibilities and Duties
Participating in sorting HPTs and storing them appropriately according to manufacturer temperature requirements.
Implementing work protocols and operating procedures relevant to laboratory activities.
Implementing the Biosafety and biosecurity framework within the facility.
Undertaking analytical waste disinfection and disposal procedures.
Accurate labeling of reagents, chemicals, and equipment.
Implementing the Laboratory’s Quality Management System (QMS).
Executing cleaning protocols and assisting with specialized cleaning procedures.
Implementing section plans and work plans to ensure efficient laboratory operations.
Monitoring reagent stock levels at the bench site and ensuring chemical reagents are stored in designated cabinets.
Managing laboratory glassware and ensuring the on-site availability of Equipment Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Assisting in physical stock takes for laboratory inventory management.
Participating in surveys, including Post-market Surveillance of HPTs.
Requirements and Qualifications
A cumulative service period of six (6) years, with at least three (3) years of experience in the grade of Laboratory Technologist II or a comparable position.
A Diploma in Industrial Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Proficiency in computer applications.
