Job Description
Role Overview
National Quality Control Laboratory (NQCL) is a State Corporation within the Ministry of Health responsible for the Quality Control of Medicines on behalf of the Government. The Laboratory Technician II (Physiochemical Analysis) is a position graded at NQCL 9, offered on a one-year contract. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a senior officer to support the laboratory's analytical operations and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Standard Operating Procedures: Implement and strictly adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) within the laboratory section.
Operational Planning: Execute section plans and individual work plans as directed by management.
Laboratory Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness of bins and benches and ensure the correct disposal of analytical waste to ensure a safe workspace.
Inventory Control: Monitor and maintain reorder levels for waste disposal bags and other essential lab consumables.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) requirements for chemicals and reagents.
Framework Implementation: Implement Bio-safety and Bio-security frameworks in line with institutional guidelines.
Requirements and Qualifications
Experience: Minimum cumulative relevant service period of three (3) years' work experience at the grade of Laboratory Technician III or in a comparable position.
Education: Professional Certificate in Science Laboratory Technology, Industrial Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Medical Laboratory, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in computer applications is required.
