The National Quality Control Laboratory (NQCL) is a State Corporation within the Ministry of Health responsible for the Quality Control of Medicines. NQCL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst I (Medical Devices) to work under the supervision of a senior officer. This is a one-year contract position (NQCL Level 7) based in Nairobi.
Key Responsibilities
Procedural Implementation: Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and laboratory quality management systems.
Sample Management: Prepare samples, solutions, and reagents for testing; assign column numbers after verification exercises.
Testing Support: Assist in setting up requirements for Certificate Tests (PTs) and Inter-Laboratory Comparison (ILC) Tests.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform Class A glassware verification; conduct performance verification on analytical equipment such as pH meters and analytical balances.
Safety and Risk Management: Implement biosafety and biosecurity frameworks; identify laboratory risks and develop mitigation measures.
Cleaning and Validation: Clean specialized equipment and validate cleaning processes for glassware, biological analysis surfaces, and laboratory equipment.
Surveillance: Participate in surveys including Post Market Surveillance of Health Products and Technologies (HPTs).
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Experience: A cumulative service period of three (3) years at the grade of Laboratory Analyst II or in a comparable position.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer applications and laboratory analytical techniques.
