Kiswahili Teaching Intern

Woodland Star International School is seeking an enthusiastic and creative aspiring educator for a Kiswahili Teaching Internship. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Kiswahili, language learning, and working with children. Candidates should possess strong spoken and written Kiswahili skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn and collaborate with teachers and learners.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and delivering engaging Kiswahili lessons.
• Support individual learners and small groups during classroom activities.
• Prepare and organise teaching materials, displays, and learning resources.
• Facilitate games, songs, storytelling, and other interactive language-learning activities.
• Assist with assessment tasks, record-keeping, and monitoring learner progress.
• Support Kiswahili-themed events, assemblies, celebrations, and school projects.
• Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and wider school activities.
• Contribute to a culture of curiosity, creativity, and respect for language and culture.
• Uphold Woodland Star’s mission, values, safeguarding policies, and Behaviour Code.

Qualifications and Minimum Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Kiswahili, Languages, or a related field.
• Fluency in Kiswahili and English.
• Strong spoken and written Kiswahili skills.
• Passion for language learning and education.
• Previous experience working with children is an advantage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with learners and colleagues.
• Creativity, adaptability, and enthusiasm for working with children.
• Strong alignment with Woodland Star’s mission and values.
• Current police clearance certificate or willingness to obtain one.
• At least one academic or professional reference.

Position Details

This is an unpaid, voluntary internship placement for a period of 3–6 months.
