Our client, a leading educational institution, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Kiswahili, CRE & Social Studies Teacher to join their team. The role focuses on delivering high-quality instruction while maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for students. The ideal candidate will be a child-centric professional with a strong background in the Kenyan CBC curriculum and a commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
Core Responsibilities
Child Protection & Safeguarding: Set and uphold behavioral expectations in the classroom, managing student behavior using positive discipline strategies. Create a culture where students feel safe and supported.
Learning Environment: Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment in line with institutional strategy.
Instructional Design: Design effective lesson plans and projects that meet learning objectives, aligned with curriculum standards and the school's teaching approach.
Delivery: Deliver engaging instruction using diverse visual and audio strategies to accommodate different learning styles and needs.
Resource Development: Develop teaching aids and materials that resonate with the interests and learning styles of students.
Assessment: Develop, administer, and grade assessments to measure progress; use data to provide feedback and adjust teaching methods.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of attendance, behavior, performance, and critical incidents.
Student Support: Assist students in exploring career pathways, nurturing talents, and understanding learning opportunities.
Co-curricular Engagement: Plan and execute in-class and outdoor activities; support school events and co-curricular programs.
Communication: Regularly engage with parents and caregivers through established channels to encourage participation in student learning.
Safeguarding Reporting: Observe and report any incidents of violence, neglect, or child abuse.
Additional Responsibilities
Manage daily duties including supervision of assemblies, school meals, arrivals, and departures.
Participate in school network activities and modeling best practices.
Contribute to special projects and working committees.
Collaborate with social work teams to provide individualized student support.
Promote the mission and vision of the organization through various activities.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's of Education in Kiswahili, History, or CRE.
Certification: Must be a TSC (Teachers Service Commission) Registered teacher.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a child-centric CBO, NGO, or school environment within Kenya.
Subject Expertise: Strong expertise in at least three learning areas (Kiswahili, CRE, Social Studies).
Curriculum Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the CBC (Competency Based Curriculum) delivery approach.
Soft Skills: Excellent time management, work ethic, and strong classroom management skills.
