Junior Secondary School (JSS) Teacher
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching materials.
Deliver lessons effectively using learner-centered teaching methods.
Implement the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) as prescribed.
Assess learners continuously and maintain accurate records of performance.
Provide remedial teaching and support to learners who require additional assistance.
Integrate ICT and other modern teaching methodologies into classroom instruction.
Learner Management
Maintain discipline and ensure adherence to school rules and regulations.
Guide and counsel learners on academic, social, and personal matters.
Monitor learner attendance and follow up on absenteeism.
Identify and nurture learners' talents and abilities.
Curriculum and Assessment
Develop and administer assignments, projects, and examinations.
Analyze learner performance and prepare progress reports.
Participate in curriculum review and departmental meetings.
Keep updated records of assessments and learner portfolios.
Co-curricular Activities
Organize and participate in sports, clubs, and other co-curricular activities.
Mentor learners in talent development programs.
Accompany learners during educational trips and school events when required.
Administration and Compliance
Attend staff meetings, workshops, and professional development programs.
Maintain classroom inventory and learning resources.
Ensure compliance with Ministry of Education policies and school procedures.
Prepare and submit reports as required by school management.
