Mogo Finance is looking for a Junior Legal Officer to join its team. The role involves managing work tasks effectively, adhering to ethical standards, and safeguarding confidential company and customer information.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Management: Draft and vet contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure full compliance with legal requirements.
Documentation: Assist in preparing contract documents, leases, and agreements with stakeholders while monitoring legal obligations.
Litigation Support: Liaise with external counsel regarding legal cases filed against the company.
Regulatory Monitoring: Provide timely updates to management on legal changes impacting company operations.
Policy Development: Develop, implement, and review legal policies to ensure alignment with current legislation.
Risk Mitigation: Work with departments to identify legal risks and implement mitigating actions.
Compliance: Monitor adherence to the company's legal and statutory requirements.
Legal Action Handling: Receive and act upon court summons, pleadings, and demand letters.
Reporting: Prepare and present up-to-date reports on legal matters to management.
Advisory: Advise the company on legal issues arising during business operations.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
Must possess a current Law Practicing Certificate.
Member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).
At least 1 year of post-admission experience as a Legal Officer in a busy law firm and 2 years of experience as a corporate lawyer.
