Job Description
CARE International is a major humanitarian agency delivering emergency relief and long-term international development projects. We are seeking an IT Intern to join our team in Nairobi. The role involves providing first-line technical support, assisting with IT asset management, supporting Microsoft 365 users, and maintaining digital platforms to ensure smooth office operations.
Key Responsibilities
IT Support & Office Operations (20%)
Provide first-line IT support to staff, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and basic network issues.
Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of laptops, printers, copiers, and other IT equipment.
Support routine preventive maintenance of IT equipment at the Country Office.
Escalate complex technical issues to the IT Coordinator when required.
Support IT setup for meetings, trainings, and office activities as needed.
IT Asset Management (20%)
Assist in updating and maintaining the Country Office IT Asset Register, ensuring accurate records of all IT equipment.
Support tagging, tracking, and recording of asset allocation, movement, condition, and disposal.
Participate in periodic IT asset verification and audits in line with CARE Kenya policies.
Ensure IT asset documentation is accurate, complete, and properly filed.
Microsoft 365 & User Support (20%)
Provide user support for Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Assist with basic user account support, access permissions, and troubleshooting within the 365 environment.
Support staff in the effective use of collaboration and digital productivity tools.
Web & Digital Platforms Support (20%)
Upload, update, and manage content on the CARE Kenya website developed using WordPress, in line with branding and communication guidelines.
Support uploading, organizing, and maintaining documents and content on CARE Kenya SharePoint.
Assist with content formatting, accuracy checks, and version control on digital platforms.
Documentation, Compliance & Learning (10%)
Assist in documenting IT procedures, user guides, and frequently asked questions (FAQs).
Support compliance with CARE Kenya IT policies, data protection, and information security standards.
Maintain basic records of IT issues, resolutions, and support requests.
Participate in IT projects, system improvements, and learning activities as assigned.
Other Duties (10%)
Provide general administrative and technical support to the IT unit.
Perform any other IT-related duties assigned by the supervisor in line with the role.
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (completed) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts.
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications.
Basic understanding of WordPress and SharePoint, or willingness to learn.
