Inkomoko Kenya is seeking an Investment Support Associate for its Kakuma operations. This role is a trusted partner for Inkomoko Kenya clients, responsible for managing investment pipelines, conducting due diligence, and overseeing portfolio management to support entrepreneurs in the region. The associate ensures that clients receive necessary business advisory while maintaining the health and compliance of Inkomoko's investment products.
Key Responsibilities
Due Diligence and Investment Preparation (50%)
Support the compilation of pipelines and respond to inquiries from prospective borrowers.
Introduce investment products to entrepreneurs, explaining repayment requirements and the implications of debt financing.
Conduct investment appraisals, collect detailed personal and business information, and arrange for new investment accounts.
Coordinate with Business Development Advisors to conduct due diligence, including site visits and document preparation.
Prepare credit reports for Investment Committee meetings and communicate materials to the Portfolio Manager.
Manage Kiva platform requirements, including storytelling and photography for fundraising purposes.
Portfolio Management (30%)
Maintain strong positive relationships with borrowers through daily conversations, correspondence, and site visits.
Work with the Business Development Services team to ensure borrower success and monitor client status.
Maintain delinquency and default rates below set targets.
Participate in weekly Portfolio Review Meetings and track borrower payments and contact information.
Interact with government and community leaders to follow up on outstanding payments.
Adhere to Kiva partnership reporting and journaling requirements.
Investment Management System (20%)
Maintain proficiency with investment software applications and streamline processes.
Ensure proper segregation of duties and maintain workflows for all stages of investment.
Advise the management team on automating lending processes.
Prepare reports and administer the system to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
Degree in Finance or a related field.
At least 2+ years of work experience in a relevant or applicable field.
Strong financial and accounting skills, with familiarity with business financial policies in Kakuma.
Experience in investment management, microfinance, capital leases, or SME financing is strongly preferred.
Experience in Islamic lending and practice is an added advantage.
Prior experience in a lending environment and providing business advice to entrepreneurs.
Proficiency with Investment Management System software.
Decisive and assertive communication style for debt collection and managing difficult clients.
Unrelenting perseverance, personal integrity, and critical thinking skills.
Fluency in English and Swahili.
Must be able to work in Kenya legally and be based in Kakuma.
