Role Overview
The African Development Bank (AfDB) is inviting applications for Session 2 of the 2026 Internship Program, specifically within the Procurement division. The mission of the AfDB is to spur sustainable economic development and social progress in its regional member countries, thus contributing to poverty reduction. The Bank aims to be at the center of Africa’s transformation and to improve the quality of Africa’s growth, promote inclusive growth and spur the transition to green growth.
Objectives
Provide students with an opportunity to acquire professional and practical experience at the African Development Bank.
Provide the Bank with a pool of potential candidates for future recruitment purposes.
Timeline and Work Mode
Commencement: Session 2 of the 2026 Internship Program will commence in July 2026.
Duration: Internships are granted for a period of no less than three (3) months and no more than six (6) months. The internship is authorized only once for any candidate.
Mode of Work: Selected interns will perform their internship either remotely or on-site depending on the needs of their respective hiring units. Remote interns are expected to have access to a personal computer, reliable internet connection and a conducive living environment.
Benefits and Conditions
Medical Insurance: Eligible Interns will benefit from medical insurance coverage paid by the Bank during the internship period.
Stipend: Eligible interns will be provided with a monthly stipend.
Travel: On-site interns are responsible for their air travel to and from the Bank’s location as well as their upkeep. The Bank will assist in obtaining entry and residence visas.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must have attained the age of majority in their country of nationality and be not more than thirty (30) years old at the time of commencement.
Be currently enrolled in a Master’s level degree program in a recognized public or private educational institution of higher learning.
Alternatively, candidates can apply within one (1) year of having obtained a Master's degree.
Must be a national of a member country of the African Development Bank.
Provide a letter from their school confirming enrollment or a copy of the degree.
Fluent in at least one of the Bank's working languages (English or French).
Proficient in standard software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access); knowledge of SAP is desirable.
