Role Overview
The African Development Bank (AfDB) is inviting applications for its 2026 Internship Program (Session 2). The program's mission reflects the aspirations of the entire African continent, aiming to promote inclusive growth and the transition to green growth. This internship specifically targets students and recent graduates in the field of Communication, providing them with professional and practical experience in an international development environment.
Objectives
Provide students with an opportunity to acquire professional and practical experience at the African Development Bank.
Provide the Bank with a pool of potential candidates for future recruitment purposes.
Note: Applicants should not expect the internship to lead to immediate employment with the Bank.
Terms and Conditions
Duration: Between three (3) and six (6) months. The internship is authorized only once for any candidate.
Commencement: Session 2 of the 2026 Internship Program will begin in July 2026.
Work Arrangement: Internships may be performed remotely or on-site depending on the hiring unit's needs. Remote interns must have a personal computer and reliable internet access. On-site interns are responsible for their own travel and upkeep.
Benefits: The Bank provides a monthly stipend and medical insurance coverage during the internship period. The Bank also assists in obtaining entry and residence visas where necessary.
Eligibility Criteria
Age: Must be at least 18 years old and no more than 30 years old at the start of the internship.
Education: Currently enrolled in a Master’s level degree program in a recognized educational institution, OR have obtained a Master's degree within the last one (1) year.
Nationality: Must be a national of a member country of the African Development Bank.
Language: Must be fluent in at least one of the Bank's working languages (English or French).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in standard software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Knowledge of SAP is highly desirable.
