Our client in the retail industry is seeking to hire an Internal Procurement Buyer to manage all internal purchase requests made for or by the company as per the Internal Procurement Policies and SOPs, while always guaranteeing the best possible price, service delivery, and quality from the market. The role is additionally in charge of planning, prioritizing, reporting and ensuring that the needs of the business are met adequately and in a timely manner as requested by the internal departments or assigned to them by their immediate supervisor. This position supports business objectives through strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and category growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quarterly market checks, market studies, and analysis in the source markets and submit price comparison reports for management approval.
- Negotiate the best prices for internal consumption products while maintaining quality and quantity standards.
- Arrange for the clearance of consumption commodities from air/seaports and oversee transportation to the enterprise.
- Communicate with Department Heads regarding the status of proposed consumption purchases.
- Analyze category performance and recommend assortment adjustments.
- Ensure minimum insurance requirements are met during the procurement of products or services from third-party vendors.
- Create monthly vendor master file modification reports for approval.
- Assess all internal consumption vendor contracts to ensure adherence to set requirements and negotiated pricing schedules.
- Maintain confidentiality of all internal Procurement and company-related information.
- Handle official travel requirements for management and employees in liaison with travel agents to ensure best rates as per company policy.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with key suppliers and resolve quality or delivery issues.
- Conduct supplier audits and performance reviews.
- Monitor category spend, cost savings, and pricing trends in collaboration with finance.
- Prepare reports on category performance, market trends, and procurement KPIs.
- Collaborate with merchandising, operations, and marketing teams to support new product launches and promotions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Commerce, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Diploma in Supply Chain Management/Procurement Management from a recognized specialized body (KIPS).
- Over 2 years of experience in procurement, specifically in driving strategy development and implementation.
