Internal Auditor

Key Responsibilities

• Audit Execution: Conduct financial, operational, compliance, and risk-based audits in accordance with the approved audit plan and professional standards.
• Controls Assessment: Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, governance processes, and risk management frameworks across business operations.
• Gap Identification: Identify control weaknesses, operational inefficiencies, compliance gaps, and areas requiring process improvement.
• Reporting: Prepare clear, accurate, and timely audit reports with practical and value-adding recommendations.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Discuss audit findings and recommendations with process owners and management to ensure alignment and action planning.
• Monitoring: Monitor the implementation of agreed management actions and track the closure of audit findings.
• Strategic Support: Participate in the development and execution of the annual risk-based internal audit plan.
• Efficiency Review: Evaluate the effectiveness of resource utilization and operational efficiency within business units.
• Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Internal Audit function.
• Professionalism: Maintain high ethical standards, confidentiality, and professional independence in line with internal audit best practices.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, Information Technology, or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Professional Certifications: CPA(K), ACCA, CIA, CISA, or equivalent certifications will be an added advantage.
• Experience: Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience in Internal Audit, External Audit, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related assurance function.
• Sector Experience: Previous experience within Financial Institutions, Audit firms, or reputable corporate organizations is required.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills.
