Role Overview
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is seeking an IT Intern for its Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESARO) based in Nairobi. The successful candidate will support the implementation, management, and technical delivery of end-user computing, network infrastructure, and IT services across the region.
Major Responsibilities
- Regional IT Service Delivery: Support the implementation and management of end-user computing, network infrastructure, and systems for the Regional Office and all Country/Project Offices.
- Infrastructure & Systems Management: Oversee the planning, deployment, and maintenance of hardware, software, network equipment, and collaboration tools.
- Cybersecurity & Compliance: Ensure systems security, data protection, patch management, and backups in alignment with global IT policies.
- User Support: Provide technical helpdesk support, manage service requests, and participate in the global “follow-the-sun” support model.
- Asset Management: Maintain IT asset inventories and coordinate with vendors for procurement and service contracts.
- Business Continuity: Ensure operational continuity and provide technical support for regional meetings and global Congresses.
Specific Duties
- IT Strategy & Planning: Contribute to standards for software acquisition and network systems to support program delivery.
- Systems Administration: Maintain servers, LAN/WAN, VPNs, firewalls, and hybrid cloud environments (AWS).
- Platform Management: Administer Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure AD, Windows Server, and ERP/HRIS systems.
- Endpoint Support: Manage the lifecycle of laptops, mobile devices (iOS/Android), VoIP phones, and videoconferencing systems.
Requirements
- Education: University degree or equivalent in a Computer-related field.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in End User Computing and Network/Systems environments.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with Windows 11, mobile OS (iOS/Android), and Microsoft SCCM for patch management.
- Processes: Familiarity with Service Desk management tools and IT asset management processes.
