Job Description
The Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) is seeking a motivated and analytically minded intern to join the Agriculture for Industry (A4I) team. This role involves implementing transformative value chain projects and supporting the team in research, stakeholder engagement, data analysis, and project coordination. The initiative focuses on priority value chains including tomatoes, avocados, cotton, edible oils, leather, dairy, and BMC, among others.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintaining an observatory on national, regional, and international developments that impact industry.
Assisting in data collection and analysis for selected value chains (e.g., tomatoes, avocados).
Supporting the development of farmer extension programs on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
Contributing to market research on demand-supply dynamics, export opportunities, and import substitution.
Drafting reports, case studies, and policy briefs for advocacy and stakeholder engagement.
Participating in field visits and stakeholder meetings with farmers, aggregators, processors, and county governments.
Supporting the monitoring and evaluation of A4I interventions and impact metrics.
Writing weekly, monthly, and quarterly A4I reports.
Requirements and Qualifications
Recent graduate or final-year student in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related fields.
Strong interest in agricultural development, value chains, and market systems.
Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of Kenya’s agricultural sector is considered an added advantage.
