This is the entry and training grade for the Inspector (Fire Services) cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a Senior Officer to ensure the safety and compliance of buildings through rigorous fire service inspections and maintenance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Inspection, repair, and maintenance of fire installations in public buildings, hospitals, and institutions.
Ensuring buildings adhere to local and national fire codes.
Evaluating fire sprinklers, extinguishers, and suppression systems.
Determining the origin and cause of fires.
Preparing detailed reports on violations and required corrections.
Providing training on fire safety and prevention to the public.
Requirements for Appointment
Education: Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or an equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
Certification: First Aid Certificate course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John’s Ambulance, Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT), or any other recognized institution.
