Role Overview

This is the entry and training grade for the Inspector (Fire Services) cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a Senior Officer to ensure the safety and compliance of buildings through rigorous fire service inspections and maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspection, repair, and maintenance of fire installations in public buildings, hospitals, and institutions.
• Ensuring buildings adhere to local and national fire codes.
• Evaluating fire sprinklers, extinguishers, and suppression systems.
• Determining the origin and cause of fires.
• Preparing detailed reports on violations and required corrections.
• Providing training on fire safety and prevention to the public.

Requirements for Appointment

• Education: Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or an equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
• Certification: First Aid Certificate course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John’s Ambulance, Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT), or any other recognized institution.
