The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is looking for an Information Systems Officer (P3) to manage and oversee conference technology and support services. This role involves the design, development, and maintenance of large-scale Conference Management and Simultaneous Interpretation (CMSI) systems, including audiovisual control systems and integration with hybrid-meeting platforms. The officer will also drive digital transformation initiatives, leading the adoption of AI-powered tools to enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Contractual Management: Develop cost proposals for services, prepare procurement plans, and oversee technical evaluations of proposals related to conference technology.
Requirement Monitoring: Gather and monitor AV and ICT requirements for both calendar and non-calendar meetings, measuring progress against established quality standards and driving improvement initiatives.
Policy Development: Propose and optimize standards and operating procedures to ensure comprehensive conference technology support and compliance.
Infrastructure Maintenance: Plan and execute phased upgrades of outdated AV and IT equipment in conferencing facilities, collaborating on the design and implementation of new upgrade projects.
Documentation and Training: Prepare technical and user documentation for conferencing systems and develop detailed training materials and presentations.
Business Continuity: Ensure operations through Service Level Agreements (SLA) and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), providing disaster recovery (DR) training and simulations.
Digital Transformation: Lead the adoption of emerging technologies, such as AI-powered solutions, to improve conference management and efficiency.
Data Analytics: Collect and analyze data to detect trends, using visualization methods like graphs and reports to support data-driven decision-making.
Requirements
Education
An Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Management, or a related field is required.
A first-level degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Completion of programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is highly desirable.
Certifications
Required: Supplemental certifications in ICT and Project Management (e.g., ITIL, Prince 2, or PMP).
Desirable: AV certifications such as Certified Technology Specialist (CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I), Dante, Shure/DIS, Bosch, Taiden, Televic, Q-Sys, Crestron, or SMPTE ST-2110.
Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the planning, design, and maintenance of large-scale (>1,000 delegate positions) Conference Management and Simultaneous Interpretation (CMSI) systems is required.
At least two (2) years of experience managing a team of ICT technicians or a service desk is required.
Experience with Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI) platforms and Digital Signage is desirable.
Experience in an international organization or managing AV Over IP infrastructure is an added advantage.
