Job Description
The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is an operational arm of the United Nations, dedicated to implementing projects for the United Nations System, international financial institutions, governments, and other partners in the aid world. Under the supervision of the ICT Senior Manager - Technology Innovation, the ICT Specialist will design, develop, and implement new features and modules to address DCO’s identified business needs and priorities, ensuring alignment with DCO’s digital development standards.
Responsibilities and Duties
Software Development & Maintenance
New Feature Development: Design and implement new features and modules based on identified business needs.
Full-Stack Development: Utilize expertise in frontend and backend technologies (Typescript, Node.js, ReactJS, PostgreSQL) to contribute across the entire stack and maintain quality via automated tests.
System Maintenance: Analyze and develop solutions for prioritized issues, including bugs and feature enhancements reported by business focal points.
API Integration: Design and develop public and private APIs for the UNINFO suite and facilitate integration with other systems.
AI Development: Develop AI-enabled applications using platforms like Azure AI Foundry, Copilot Studio, and Rovo.
Platform Enhancement: Improve application performance, scalability, security, and user experience.
Data, Documentation & Support
Data Visualization: Develop and integrate interactive dashboards to communicate insights from the UN INFO suite.
Technical Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for developers and application administrators.
Technical Support: Assist application administrators and data managers with user/data management, bug resolution, and troubleshooting.
Cloud Technologies: Leverage Azure and Docker to ensure application scalability and security.
Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
Participate in code reviews, sprint cycles, and knowledge-sharing activities.
Function as an active member of the wider DCO development team.
Assist with DevOps tasks, including infrastructure maintenance and configuration.

Requirements and Qualifications
Education
Option 1: Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in IT, Information Systems, Web Development, Engineering, or a related field with 5 years of relevant experience.
Option 2: First-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in a related field with 7 years of relevant experience.
Option 3: Secondary school diploma (High School equivalent) with 11 years of relevant experience.
Experience
General Experience: Proven experience in database-driven web application development and maintenance.
Specialized Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience developing with object-oriented JavaScript and libraries, specifically Typescript, Node.JS, or ReactJS.
Frameworks: Experience with Node.js, Python, or other web application frameworks.
Databases: Experience with SQL-based open-source databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
AI/Cloud: Experience with AI-enabled app development (Azure Foundry, MCP Servers, etc.) is required.
