Role Overview
The ICT Assistant (Network & Security) is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of KCA University’s network infrastructure. The goal is to ensure reliable connectivity, data protection, and efficient system operation to support teaching, learning, research, and administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Management: Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network devices.
Security Monitoring: Monitor and maintain endpoint security systems and various network security tools.
Network Expansion: Assist in expansion projects such as Wi-Fi deployment and switch upgrades.
Access Control: Support the implementation of secure access controls and VPN services.
Data Protection: Perform regular system backups and conduct test recovery procedures.
Technical Support: Assist in procurement by preparing technical specifications and ensuring compliance with institutional ICT security policies.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, changes, and incidents.
Specialized Systems: Support VoIP systems and manage structured cabling where necessary.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of hands-on experience in ICT support services and LAN/WAN network administration.
Technical Exposure: Experience with endpoint security implementation, hardware/software troubleshooting, and supporting at least 50+ networked workstations.
Monitoring Tools: Experience managing security monitoring systems such as SIEM or endpoint monitoring tools.
Additional Assets: Exposure to VoIP systems, wireless access point configuration, and core/edge switch configuration.
Certifications (Added Advantage): Cisco Networking Academy (CCNA), Linux System Administration (Linux Foundation), or Endpoint Security certifications.
