In alignment with their continued growth and strategic success, they are seeking to recruit a highly competent, dynamic, and outstanding individual to fill the position of ICT Assistant – Network Administration.
Purpose of the Job
The ICT Assistant – Network Administration reports to the Head of ICT and is responsible for assessing information risk and facilitating remediation of identified vulnerabilities for IT security and IT risks across Kenya Tea Packers. The role involves coordinating ICT system support in liaison with the Database Administrator, Business Intelligence, and Reporting, and ensuring secure network connectivity in and within Ketepa offices, as well as the integrity and security of Company Systems.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Performance Monitoring: Establishes optimal network performance by evaluating connectivity KPIs (availability, utilization, throughput, and latency). Plans and executes the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of ICT equipment.
- Network Management: Monitors and manages all communications and resolves networking problems through effective implementation of preventive measures for IT networks, systems, and software applications.
- Vulnerability Assessments: Performs vulnerability assessments using IT security tools and methodologies to report any IT security/Risk exposure. Reports findings and recommendations of identified vulnerabilities to the Head of ICT for corrective action.
- Network Specifications: Establishes network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; and designing router administration (including interface configuration and routing protocols).
- Performance Tuning: Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; and escalating issues to vendors.
- Network Security: Secures the network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation procedures while maintaining updated documentation.
- Cyber Defense: Enhances cyber defense and security by defining access privileges, control structures, and resources. Periodically reviews firewall rules, configurations, and logs with the Head of ICT.
- ICT Policies: Assists the ICT Manager in recommending updates to all ICT policies, including the Disaster Recovery Plan, ICT strategy for the company technology infrastructure, and Systems & BCP SOP.
- Technical Support: Handles entry, updates, and follow-ups on the ICT support helpdesk system and provides efficient, effective, and continuous support to all users of information and telecommunication.
- Training & Documentation: Provides basic training/support in accessing the network and using various software applications, and aids the ICT Manager in maintaining documentation for all information systems.
- Vendor Relations: Works with vendor support contacts to review and update SLAs and resolve technical problems with end-user hardware, software, and MPLS/SD-WAN/internet.
- System Compliance: Ensures all PCs, laptops, and servers on the domain/network are running on licensed and updated operating systems and updated versions of endpoint security.
- Interconnectivity: Ensures all computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including associated validation systems, file servers, email servers, application servers, and administrative systems.
- Budgeting: Assists in the formulation of annual ICT training, CAPEX, and OPEX budgets in liaison with the Head of ICT.
- Other Duties: Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Systems Administrator or the Head of ICT.

- Design, deploy, and administer network infrastructure, security architecture, and support.

- Manage day-to-day activities of threat and vulnerability management.
- Provide technical support for end-users.
- Plan the installation and implementation of new hardware and software. Coordinate firmware and software upgrades.
