Role Overview
The Hospital Matron will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative leadership to the nursing unit, ensuring delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care in line with established standards, policies, and professional guidelines within the Bliss Healthcare group.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic leadership and direction for nursing services across the hospital.
- Governance and Standards: Establish and maintain nursing governance frameworks and quality standards.
- Performance Monitoring: Develop, monitor, and evaluate nursing quality indicators and performance metrics.
- Quality of Care: Ensure delivery of safe, efficient, and patient-centered nursing care.
- Operations Management: Lead implementation and review of nursing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and oversee patient admission, care coordination, and discharge processes.
- Personnel Management: Oversee staffing, training, performance management, and staff development, including mentoring and coaching nursing staff and team leaders.
- Resource Management: Ensure proper resource utilization, including equipment, supplies, and inventory.
- Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and accountability, leading departmental planning and continuous medical education (CMEs).
- Emergency Response: Support emergency response and critical care interventions where required.
- Customer Service: Drive excellent customer service and patient satisfaction initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 15 years’ experience in a busy hospital setting.
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or KRCHN.
- Registration: Valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
- Certifications: Valid certifications in ATLS, ACLS, EPLS, and ETAT as applicable.
- Specialization: Relevant specialization diploma.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to manage clinical teams and hospital operations.
- Clinical Competence: Competence in emergency response and critical care procedures, and knowledge of a wide range of medications and clinical practices.
