Information about the role
DHL Supply Chain Kenya is looking for experienced Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Drivers for night shunting operations. The role is focused on managing vehicle turnarounds, ensuring safety and compliance, and maintaining efficient logistics flow at client sites. You will be responsible for driving within approved routes and representing the company professionally while adhering to all standard operating procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties
Ensure timely vehicle turnaround and loading times within set KPIs.
Maintain responsibility for vehicle safety, quality requirements, and legal compliance.
Perform routine vehicle checks and report any anomalies immediately for correction.
Drive DHL vehicles within approved routes, practicing patience and upholding company values.
Follow standard operating procedures for loading and offloading at client sites.
Ensure all delivery documentation is accurately filled, signed, and returned to appropriate offices.
Adhere to traffic laws and regulations at all times on the road and at customer sites.
Report potential risks, near misses, breakdowns, and accidents to supervisors promptly.
Monitor fuel consumption to achieve set target (Km/L).
Adhere to the Working Time Directive and safety regulations.
Represent DHL Supply Chain professionally to customers.
Adhere to all Health and Safety rules of the company and clients.
Manage document and process flows for truck entry, loading, and exiting at customer sites.
Use tramm mobile for trip logging and meet all DCT requirements.
Exit loaded trucks to Kasarani as directed by executors to manage TAT efficiently.
Skills and Experiences
Minimum of 3 years of HGV driving experience.
Familiarity with standard operating procedures for logistics and delivery.
Ability to drive safely and adhere to traffic laws.
Proficiency in English and Kiswahili (written and verbal).
Knowledge of basic vehicle mechanics is an advantage.
Ability to work night shifts and irregular hours.
Qualifications
O level school certificate.
Valid HGV Driving license.
Certificate in Mechanics is an added advantage.
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
