Job Description
Role Overview
This is an entry and training grade for Health Records and Information Technologists within the Narok County Government. The officer at this level will work under the supervision of a senior officer to manage patient data, maintain clinical records, and ensure the efficiency of hospital reception and registration services.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Registration: Receiving and documenting patients at hospital reception; registering and booking appointments for patients to clinics and consultants.
Records Management: Storing and retrieving medical records documents; updating patient master index; and editing patient case records.
Clinical Support: Preparing clinics, updating bed bureaus, and balancing daily bed returns.
Data Management: Gathering data from different sources; capturing data from service points; and entering health data into official systems.
Medical Coding: Assigning codes to diseases and surgical procedures according to the International Classification of Diseases and Procedures in Medicine.
Operational Support: Directing patients to relevant clinics and scheduling patients for consultants and specialty clinics.
Compliance: Maintaining record safety and confidentiality at all times.
Requirements and Qualifications
A Diploma in Health Records and Information Technology from a recognized institution.
A Certificate of Registration from the Health Records and Information Managers Board.
A Valid practicing license from the Health Records and Information Managers Board.
A Certificate in computer application skills will be an added advantage.
