BANK OF AFRICA - KENYA LIMITED (BOA-KENYA) is a commercial bank providing banking services to corporate, SME, and retail clientele. The Head of Institutional Banking & Custodial Services is a senior role responsible for the strategic management and growth of the bank's relationships with institutions, developmental agencies, and government bodies, alongside the oversight of custodial services.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Planning
- Continuously monitor institutional and developmental agency relationships to ensure client satisfaction with BOA service and partnership.
- Anticipate, analyze, and respond to various current and future needs of targeted institutions.
- Identify potential institutions, parastatals, government ministries, donor, and developmental agencies for partnership and business opportunities.
- Prepare pre-visit reports and calling programs for targeted institutions.
Marketing
- Maintain and execute an effective call program for new and assigned clients to assess needs and identify cross-selling opportunities.
- Cultivate and develop business relationships with targeted institutions and government ministries, responding with suitable product packages.
- Identify and develop new business proposals efficiently to ensure opportunities are captured.
- Market aggressively for project and developmental agency funds prior to disbursement.
- Maintain visibility and personal relationship management with government ministries and the Treasury to channel funds through BOA.
- Drive sustainable growth on the liabilities and asset sides of the bank’s balance sheet.
- Synergize with various stakeholders to grow bank business and provide strategic advice to management.
Customer Care / Portfolio Management
- Monitor customer/bank contact at all levels to ensure high standards of service.
- Oversight of counter services for collection business and institutional clients.
- Maintain Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and proactively manage expiring limits for loans and trade finance products.
- Facilitate smooth custodial account opening and asset transfers from other custodians and stockbrokers.
Monitoring & Control
- Keep abreast of market developments, including government projects and funding sources, to advise stakeholders.
- Stay familiar with industry trends and tailor products to suit specific client business sectors.
People Management
- Provide leadership, mentorship, training, and motivation to the team to achieve objectives.
Processes and Projects
- Support deposit management including mobilization and pricing.
- Participate in liquidity management as a member of ALCO and DTC.
- Manage fixed deposit maturities for the bank.
- Review client and regulatory report packs for custodial accounts.
- Attend review meetings and AGMs for trustees, fund managers, and clients.
Minimum Requirements
- Academic Qualification: A degree in a business-related field (Bachelor of Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Banking/Finance, or equivalent).
- Professional Qualification: AKIB or ACIB or other business-related professional qualification is an added advantage.
- Training: Formal training in lending and relationship management.
- Experience: At least 8 years of banking experience, with 4 years in a management role in business development within Institutional Banking or corporate SME relationship management.
