Role Overview
BANK OF AFRICA - KENYA LIMITED (BOA-KENYA) is a commercial bank providing banking services to corporate, SME and retail clientele. The Head of Corporate Banking is responsible for strategic planning, business development, and portfolio management for the bank's corporate banking segment, ensuring growth, profitability, and risk management.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Financial:
- Strategic planning for corporate business in line with the bank's annual and tri-annual business development plans, including preparation of business plans for Board approval.
- Provide strategic advice to bank management on all matters relating to corporate banking.
- Drive growth of the corporate balance sheet on assets, liabilities, and off-balance sheet exposures.
- Increase the consumption level of products and services by corporate clients and spearhead the expansion of bank relationships across the corporate supply chain.
- Grow trade finance and regional business, specifically focusing on importers/exporters and international synergies with BOA Group entities.
- Manage the quality of the corporate credit portfolio to maintain it within the bank's risk thresholds.
- Achieve profitability and productivity ratios for the corporate portfolio.
Customer Focus:
- Foster synergies with the regional BOA Group and harmonize the management of shared regional clients.
- Oversee timely and proper syndication of facilities, both in-country and externally.
- Engage in market networking (local and international) and lead generation for supervised business teams.
- Build synergies with various bank departments, including Treasury and Business Banking.
Operational:
- Maintain relationships with international partners, including Direct Foreign Investors (DFIs) and correspondent banks.
- Manage staff development, motivation, and succession planning within the department.
- Take overall responsibility for the performance of Business Centers.
- Ensure portfolio sustainability with managed risk levels and consistent quality.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years’ banking experience with a good understanding of Bank policies, procedures, and external regulations.
- At least 5 years of experience in Corporate Banking at a senior level.
- A strong, demonstrated track record in business development and business networking.
- Strong business acumen in both the banking industry and the Corporate/Institutional space.
- Evidenced knowledge of the current banking and financial services operating environment, trends, regulatory guidelines, and applicable laws.
- A University Degree, preferably in a business-related field (Economics, Finance & Accounting) from a recognized institution.
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
