About the Role
St Andrew’s Senior School is seeking to appoint two Pastoral Graduate Assistants who will assist the House Parents in the boarding house as well as support with duties around the school. Working at St Andrew’s, Turi, is an exciting and dynamic experience. We look to recruit committed and resourceful staff, who are looking to not only develop their skills and leadership capacities, but also embrace new experiences and challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Ethos Support: Uphold the School’s Christian ethos in both principle and practice, joining staff and pupils in prayer where appropriate and supporting Chaplaincy events.
- Pastoral Care: Work within a boarding house team, including evening and weekend duties. Act as a role model to pupils, attend weekly team meetings, assist with student registration, and support Houseparents with administrative tasks.
- Academic Support: Act as a tutor for a group of pupils if required, cover academic lessons during teacher absences, and work within a chosen department.
- Co-Curricular & Sport: Assist in running co-curricular activities, including coaching student games during PE lessons, practice, and competition. Participate in the adventure program and weekend activities.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: A degree in education or a related field.
- Faith: Must be a practicing Christian (Essential).
- Skills: Strong communication skills, passionate about teaching, creative, diligent, adaptable, and resilient.
- Sports/Arts: Experience and understanding of Hockey is required. Additional skills in Adventure and Creative Arts (Drama, Design and Technology, Art, or Music) are an advantage.
- Experience: Previous experience in a school or boarding environment is desirable but not essential.
