The Grade 1 Co-Teacher (Learning Support) will work collaboratively within the Primary Years team to ensure all learners can access, engage with, and excel in the curriculum. This maternity cover role supports Woodland Star’s inclusive education model through co-teaching, differentiated instruction, and targeted learner support, fostering inquiry, critical thinking, and conceptual understanding within a nurturing classroom environment. This position is a maternity cover for Term 3, running from 14 April to 10 July 2026.
Responsibilities
Work collaboratively within the Primary Years team to support learner engagement.
Implement inclusive education through co-teaching strategies.
Utilize differentiated instruction to meet various learning needs.
Provide targeted support for individual learners.
Foster an environment of inquiry, critical thinking, and conceptual understanding.
Co-plan, co-teach, and co-assess effectively with the lead teacher and wider team.
Align teaching practices with the school's core values: Passion, Connectedness, Innovation, Respect, and Environmental Conservation.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or Bachelor of Education with Special Needs certification.
Minimum of three years’ experience in an inclusive or special education setting.
Valid TSC (Teachers Service Commission) registration is mandatory.
Strong understanding of inclusive education practices, curriculum differentiation, and mastery-based learning.
Ability to co-plan, co-teach, and co-assess effectively within a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Clear alignment with Woodland Star’s mission, vision, and core values.
