Job Description
Role Overview
The Geologist II will be responsible for analyzing rocks, minerals, and other geological materials to understand their formation and how they contribute to the physical environment. This is an entry and training grade for this cadre, where the officer will work under the guidance of a senior officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
Participating in carrying out hydro-geological, hydro-geophysical, hydro-geochemical, and hydro-geotechnical surveys.
Participation in carrying out environmental investigations.
Preparing hydrogeological maps and reports.
Collecting, collating, and storing groundwater data and information.
Participating in drilling and other activities related to exploration, assessment, and development of groundwater resources.
Drafting borehole drilling reports.
Person Specifications and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Geology, Applied Geology, Hydrology, Engineering Geology, Environmental Geology, Geochemistry, Geophysics or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
Registration with the Geological Society of Kenya.
Member of Geological Board of Kenya.
Completion of a Management course from a recognized institution.
Proficiency in computer applications.

Certificate of good conduct/Police clearance from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
Tax compliance certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority.
Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
