Role Overview
Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) is seeking a General Manager for Internal Audit. This role is responsible for providing independent objective assurance on the effectiveness of the Company’s Governance, Risk Management, and Internal Controls in accordance with International Internal Audit Standards. The primary objective is to support the achievement of the Company’s mandate and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership: Provide leadership to staff within the Internal Audit Department.
Assurance: Provide assurance to the Board and Management regarding the implementation of the Company’s Strategic Objectives and the effectiveness of internal controls, governance, and risk management.
Audit Planning: Coordinate and lead the preparation of risk-based annual audit work plans aligned with strategic objectives.
Financial Oversight: Provide assurance on the proper use of funds for projects funded by Development Finance Institutions (DFI) and the Government of Kenya.
Departmental Management: Lead the preparation of the department’s procurement plan, work plan, and budget; supervise staff in implementing the audit plan approved by the Board Audit & Risk Committee.
External Liaison: Oversee and coordinate external auditors’ reviews of financial statements, strategic initiatives, and transmission project accounts.
Investigations: Plan and coordinate timely special audits and investigations.
Compliance & Integrity: Lead anti-corruption initiatives, manage the Department’s Enterprise Risk Register, and provide secretarial services to the Board Audit & Risk Assurance Committee (BARC) and Corruption Prevention Committee (CPC).
Reporting: Submit quarterly audit and integrity reports to the BARC and EACC.
ICT & Infrastructure: Provide assurance on ICT infrastructure, investments, business continuity plans, and disaster recovery strategies.
Mentorship: Coach and mentor departmental staff while managing performance and career development.
Qualifications and Experience
A Master’s degree in a relevant field with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA (K)) or ACCA Finalist.
Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Information System Auditor (CISA).
Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors of Kenya (IIA-Kenya) or Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).
Completion of a leadership development program (minimum 4 weeks) and Corporate Governance training.
At least twelve (12) years of knowledge and relevant experience, with at least eight (8) years at a senior management level.
