As the Financial Manager at British American Tobacco (BAT), you will be responsible for driving the financial performance and strategic commitments of the Agri-business sector. This critical role involves providing accurate financial management information, managing leaf costs, forecasting working capital, and ensuring robust internal controls and compliance. You will act as a key business partner, challenging the status quo and collaborating across various functions to achieve organizational objectives.
Principal Accountabilities
Financial Planning & Reporting: Ensure delivery of Agri-business company plan commitments and provide timely financial management information relating to Leaf costs, blends, working capital, and variances.
Operational Efficiency: Challenge the status quo on potential productivity savings and participate in loss analysis and idea-generation forums.
Risk & Loss Management: Proactively manage and report losses, including early warnings of potential risks.
Compliance & Audits: Ensure appropriate treatment of import duties, levies, and leaf costs. Liaise with auditors to ensure timely completion of audits and regulatory compliance.
Financial Control: Manage cash flow and working capital for leaf-related inputs. Drive the control environment for asset and inventory management.
Continuous Improvement: Drive compliance to internal controls and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the Leaf and GLT teams.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with external partners for insights and leverage. Collaborate with Shared Service Teams and Area/Regional Operations Finance Teams on information requests and cost forecasts.
Leadership: Contribute to BAT’s inclusive culture and focus on personal leadership development for career advancement.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: A relevant university degree.
Professional Certification: Professional accountancy qualification (such as ACCA or CPA).
Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in finance or audit.
Industry Knowledge: Prior experience in an FMCG or agri-business environment is an added advantage.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and working knowledge of SAP is highly desirable.
