To cater to our Muslim clients and other ethical investors, Standard Investment Bank, through its Islamic Investment Banking window, SIB Najah, is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Financial Advisor to join our dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Islamic finance principles and regulations, coupled with excellent financial advisory skills. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide tailored investment advice and financial planning services that align with Shariah guidelines and meet the unique needs of our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Assessment: Conduct thorough financial assessments for clients to understand their investment goals, risk tolerance, and financial situation.
- Investment Strategies: Develop personalized and Shariah-compliant investment strategies that adhere to Islamic financial principles, ensuring they are aligned with the client’s objectives.
- Portfolio Recommendation: Recommend a diversified portfolio of investment products, such as Sukuk, Islamic funds, equities, and other Shariah-compliant financial instruments.
- Market Intelligence: Stay updated on the latest developments and trends in Islamic finance and investment markets to provide up-to-date advice.
- Portfolio Monitoring: Monitor and review client portfolios regularly, making necessary adjustments based on market conditions and changing client circumstances.
- Client Education: Educate clients about the principles of Shariah-compliant investing and provide guidance on the ethical and social considerations that influence investment decisions.
- Internal Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, including research and compliance, to ensure that investment recommendations follow Shariah guidelines and regulations.
- Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication, meetings, and proactive engagement.
- Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of client interactions, investment decisions, and portfolio performance.
- Business Development: Participate in business development activities to attract new clients and contribute to the growth of the firm’s Shariah-compliant investment advisory services.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Islamic Banking, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., Certified Islamic Finance Executive) is a plus.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Financial Advisor, with a proven track record in Shariah-compliant investment advisory.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Islamic finance principles, including Shariah-compliant investment instruments and regulations.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to assess financial data and market trends, and the ability to translate these insights into actionable investment strategies.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and explain complex financial concepts in an understandable manner.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial software and tools for portfolio analysis and investment research.
- Ethics: Demonstrated ethical and professional behavior in line with Islamic financial ethics and values.
- Teamwork: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while managing multiple clients and priorities simultaneously.
- Languages: Fluency in Somali and Swahili is a plus, as the role may involve communicating with clients from diverse backgrounds.
