About the Role
Tausi Assurance Company is seeking a highly experienced Finance Manager to oversee its financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, driving financial efficiency through automation, and providing strategic financial leadership. A critical requirement for this role is practical experience with the IFRS 17 accounting standard, which the company adopted in 2023. This role reports to the Managing Director and involves regular interaction with the Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports, including statements of comprehensive income, financial position, and cash flows. Ensure all statements adhere to IFRS 17 standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Prepare and submit quarterly management accounts to the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) and ensure timely returns and payments to tax authorities (KRA) and other statutory bodies.
- Internal Controls & Policy: Develop and maintain sound internal control procedures and implement financial policies as decided by the Board of Directors.
- System Automation: Lead automation efforts for financial statements and processes. Collaborate with ICT to implement core software (AZ12B) and transition operations from legacy systems.
- Tax Management: Oversee tax planning, management, KRA refunds, and VAT collection agent duties.
- Strategic Support: Advise the Managing Director and Board on changes in legislation or regulations affecting business operations.
- Budgeting: Develop annual budgets aligned with the company’s strategic and operational plans and monitor performance against these targets.
- Audit & Inspections: Prepare audit schedules and serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and regulatory inspectors.
- Asset Management: Manage capital asset acquisition, tagging, amortization, and appropriate disposal.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor finance department staff to ensure high operational efficiency.
- Performance Analysis: Conduct monthly and quarterly analysis of business performance, product underperformance, and investment opportunities to provide recommendations to management.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Academic: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a business-related course. A Master’s degree in Finance is an added advantage.
- Professional: CPA (K) or ACCA qualification and active membership in ICPAK.
- Experience: Minimum of 15 years in financial management, with 8–10 years at a management or head-of-function level.
- Technical: Previous audit experience is essential. In-depth knowledge of IFRS 17 is mandatory.
- Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel and PowerPoint), Outlook, VBA, and Power BI for data analysis.
