To provide overall financial leadership to the Kenya business and support the General Manager and Operational managers in strategic, tactical, and operations finance-related imperatives. This role encompasses commercial costing, decision-support, statutory compliance, treasury functions, and risk management within a multinational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support Costing of Commercial Opportunities
- Ensure long-term profitability.
- Conduct scenario planning of the strategic plan/IBP in line with Group requirements.
- Coordinate reporting to previous plans.
Maintain and Enhance Decision-Making
- Provide first-class financial information based on strong systems.
- Ensure effective management of Country financial databases.
- Manage the budget and forecast process.
- Implement and maintain costing systems for customer profitability.
- Utilize technology and skills to facilitate processes.
- Prepare monthly reporting packs for Kenya, Group, Sub-region, and Country Management.
Review and Challenge Local Financial Performance
- Direct and assist in ensuring performance to budget and forecast.
- Determine and implement performance analyses and reporting processes.
Statutory Compliance
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax returns and CREST.
- Ensure timely and compliant Annual Financial Statements.
- Keep abreast of new legislation and ensure compliance with treasury-related issues.
Treasury Function
- Efficient cash flow management and forecasting.
- Manage Capex ensuring optimal replacement policy.
- Ensure compliance with Central Bank regulations on payments and receipts.
- Manage relationship with central finance reporting and control groups.
Corporate Shared Services and Risk Management
- Supervise Africa Finance Team and ensure effective operational processes with internal controls.
- Supervise cost control, transaction processing, and manage audit processes.
- Provide direction to the senior management team regarding risk management and maximize financial performance at appropriate risk levels.
Measurement Criteria / KPIs
- Country-Level objectives (budget, revenue) and results (EBIT).
- Management Information availability and timely submission of information packs.
- Robust financial action plans to improve business.
- Compliance with all legal and DPDHL reporting requirements and risk management frameworks.
- Improvement in Cash Flow Management and meeting group targets.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting & Finance.
- Minimum 7 to 10 years in a senior management position in Finance with increased responsibility.
- Professional Qualification from a recognized accounting body (CPA or ACCA).
- Understanding and practical experience in Supply Chain and Contract Logistics is a distinct advantage.
- Cross-divisional or cross-country experience is an advantage.
- General experience in Finance and Accounting in a Multinational is highly preferred.
- Proven experience in managing a team across several different finance disciplines.
- Knowledge of statutory and operating environments in Kenya is required.
