CDL, founded in 2003, is a specialized human resources and logistics management firm. We are seeking a Finance Manager who will act as a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team. The role involves providing deep financial insights to guide overall company strategy, including new product launches, market expansion, and the evaluation of product lines. The ideal candidate will manage everything from high-level financial strategy to operational finance, compliance, and leadership of the finance department.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Planning
Strategic Planning: Provide financial insights to guide company strategy, product launches, and market expansion.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the development of robust budgeting and long-term financial planning processes.
Financial Analysis: Support decision-making across Sales, Procurement, and HR with data-driven analysis.
Capital Allocation: Manage the company's capital budget and ensure sufficient funds for operations and growth.
Operational Finance
Working Capital Management: Optimize inventory levels, receivables, and payables cycles. Oversee cash flow planning and mobile money (M-Pesa) flows.
Cost & Margin Management: Identify cost-saving initiatives and track gross margins by SKU/category to ensure profitability.
Pricing Optimization: Manage monthly and daily pricing decisions and route-to-market strategies.
Supply Chain Finance: Partner with operations to establish cost-per-route, cost-per-drop, and manage logistics expenses and wastage.
Accounting, Compliance & Risk Management
Financial Reporting: Oversee accounting functions and prepare statements in accordance with IFRS or local GAAP standards.
Internal Controls: Maintain robust procedures to safeguard assets and ensure audit readiness.
Tax Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to KRA, county government taxes, and other statutory requirements (NEMA, OSHA, DOSH).
Risk Mitigation: Identify and assess financial risks including market, credit, and operational risks.
Inventory Accounting: Manage inventory valuation and enforce monthly cycle counts.
Leadership & Stakeholder Relations
Team Leadership: Mentor and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team.
Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, banks, and investors/VCs.
Systems Integration: Champion the integration of financial systems (ERP, POS, M-Pesa APIs, ETIMS).
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification required.
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a Finance leadership role, preferably within FMCG, Agribusiness, or Supply Chain environments.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax regulations, and audit processes.
Proven experience in cash flow management, budgeting, and financial modelling.
High proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and leadership skills.
High integrity and strong attention to detail.
