As a Finance Assistant at Save the Children, you will be a key member of the Regional Office Finance Team. The primary purpose of this role is to support financial operations by performing invoice reconciliations, preparing payment runs, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. You will work closely with various departments to facilitate medical supply procurements and manage staff travel expenses.
Key Responsibilities
Regional Office Operations: Perform detailed invoice reconciliation and verify all invoices for accuracy, completeness, and correct budget coding.
Payment Processing: Prepare payment runs in the TM5 system for review and approval, ensuring bank signatories approve payments in a timely manner.
Procurement Support: Provide payment support for CO medical supplies outside of ProSave, reviewing purchase packs for completeness and posting relevant vouchers.
Banking & Payroll: Prepare bank payment upload files, including payroll, for signatory approval and post bank entries into the system.
Expense Management: Process travel advances and Travel Expense Reports (TER).
Cross-charge Management: Process hosting fee charges for staff hosted by the East and Southern Africa Regional Office (ESA RO) to Country Offices and Members.
Financial Support Services: Assist with staff inductions, support audit preparations by tracing documentation, and ensure internal controls are consistently maintained within the program.
Departmental Support: Provide financial information and support to Program staff as required.
Qualifications and Experience
An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably within a not-for-profit organization.
High proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Familiarity with computerized accounting systems, with a strong preference for AGRESSO experience.
Demonstrated ability to analyze facts and data to resolve issues with minimal supervision.
Proven ability to manage a heavy workload and multi-task effectively to meet strict deadlines.
Highest level of integrity and a strong commitment to preventing corruption.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all departments.
