The Field HSE Supervisor at Baker Hughes offers expert knowledge and skills to generate and promote a positive health, safety, and environment culture. This represents a key role in helping control occupational risk and impact on the rig to achieve a 'Perfect HSE day' every day. You will have full oversight of safe operations on a drilling and completion work site, including rig operations and a supporting maintenance yard, while ensuring a coherent HSE approach by all contracted parties.
Key Responsibilities
Liaise directly with field operational supervisors to ensure the safe operation of drilling and completion activities.
Manage and ensure adherence to Client and Baker Hughes HSE policies and procedures.
Promote a safety culture in accordance with industry best practices.
Lead and participate in site HSE meetings, presenting safety data, statistics, and lessons learned.
Perform and follow up on site inspections, generating Remedial Work Plans (RWP) or Action Trackers (AT) for non-compliance.
Monitor the work environment for hazards, particularly during work performed under Permit to Work (PTW) requirements.
Coordinate rig move operations, participating in convoys and verifying personnel and equipment certifications.
Report and lead the investigation of all incidents, accidents, and near misses.
Verify that risk assessments are correctly prepared, implemented, and updated.
Promote the Safety Observation System, analyzing data to identify trends and behavioral patterns.
Verify site H2S and Fire contingency provisions and conduct emergency drills.
Ensure all crew are certified according to training matrixes and conduct refresher training.
Verify that all tools and equipment are safe for use and have valid documentation.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited university or relevant industry experience.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with at least 5+ years in Environmental Health & Safety.
Ability to work on a rotational schedule and live at a rig site.
Competence in planning, problem-solving, organizing, and controlling wellsite operations.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
Proficiency in MS Office Suite; familiarity with MS Project is required.
Willingness and ability to travel frequently to remote field locations.
Ability to manage, develop, coach, and mentor teams across organizational boundaries.
