Role Overview
The Exhibition & Events Officer at The Kenya Cultural Centre (KCC) is responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of high-quality exhibitions and events. The primary objective is to maximize the utilization of KCC’s spaces, enhance audience engagement, and support the visibility of artists. This role is central to revenue generation and increasing national awareness of the Centre as a premier hub for cultural and creative expression.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Programmes & Business Development, the officer will:
Plan and implement exhibitions, performances, festivals, and cultural events according to the Centre's mandate.
Manage and maintain the Centre's Bookings Calendar.
Optimize the use of galleries, theatres, and other hirable spaces.
Coordinate with artists, curators, and partners to ensure professional event delivery.
Develop innovative concepts to attract diverse audiences, including youth and rural-based artists.
Manage event logistics, including venue prep, technical needs, and on-site operations.
Partner with the Sales & Marketing team to package events as revenue-generating products.
Support artists by providing platforms for showcasing and commercializing their work.
Oversee the documentation and branding of events across digital and traditional media.
Collect audience feedback and performance data to inform future programming.
Ensure all events comply with safety requirements and institutional policies.
Contribute to structured programming calendars that enhance consistency and repeat visitation.
Qualifications and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts, Performing Arts, Fine Arts, Arts Management, Event Management, Cultural Studies, Hospitality or Tourism Management, Communication, Public Relations, or a related field.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a comparable position.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Added Advantage: Professional certificates in Arts Administration, Cultural Programming, Audience Development, or Health, Safety, and Risk Management for events.
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong event planning and management skills.
Deep knowledge of visual and performing arts and the creative industries.
Skills in basic budgeting and resource coordination.
Proven ability in stakeholder management with artists and curators.
Competence in event documentation and evaluation.
