Information about the Role
The Executive Head, Enterprise Data Management is a senior leadership position at KCB Bank Kenya. This role is responsible for defining and executing the Group Enterprise Data Strategy and Roadmap, ensuring alignment with the overall Group Strategy and business priorities. The incumbent will establish and enforce Group-wide Data Governance, drive Data Quality programs, and lead the adoption of AI and Advanced Analytics to realize business value and data monetization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Roadmap: Define and execute the Group Enterprise Data Strategy and Roadmap, aligned to the Group Strategy and priorities.
Data Governance: Establish and enforce Group-wide Data Governance, including data ownership, stewardship, policies, and decision rights across subsidiaries.
Operating Model: Build the Enterprise Data Operating Model, including federated governance structures and subsidiary-level data leads with dotted-line accountability.
Data Architecture: Own the Enterprise Data Architecture, including master data, metadata management, lineage, and reference data standards.
Data Quality: Drive Data Quality and Data Integrity Programs, including enterprise data quality SLAs, remediation, and continuous monitoring.
Infrastructure Enablement: Lead Data Platform and Analytics Enablement, shaping the target data stack and working with Technology to implement scalable data infrastructure.
AI Adoption: Enable AI and Advanced Analytics Adoption, ensuring data readiness, ethical AI governance, model risk controls, and business use-case prioritization.
Value Realization: Drive Business Value Realization and Data Monetization, ensuring measurable revenue uplift, cost savings, productivity gains, and new product opportunities.
Compliance & Risk: Ensure Regulatory Compliance and Data Risk Management, including privacy, cybersecurity controls, retention policies, audit readiness, and BC/DR requirements.
Data Culture: Build Group-wide Data Culture and Capability, including analytics literacy, talent development, and enterprise-wide change management.
Tech Strategy Collaboration: Collaborate with the Technology Management team to shape the information technology strategy, particularly regarding the data and analytics technology stack.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science or related fields (Required). A Master’s degree in Strategic Management, Business Administration, or related field is an added advantage.
Certifications: Certification in data governance frameworks like DAMA DMBOK, COBIT, or ISO/IEC 38500 is required.
Technical Expertise: Proficiency in SQL, R, Python, and supervised/unsupervised machine learning techniques (added advantage).
General Experience: Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in data management or analytics.
Specialized Experience:
8 years of experience in Data Quality Management (essential).
4 years of experience in Data Remediation programs (essential).
4 years of experience in Data governance frameworks (essential).
4 years of experience in SQL, Python/R, and cloud computing (essential).
6 years of experience in People management (essential).
2 years of experience in Data monetization, Machine learning/AI, and Project Management (desired).
