The International Rescue Committee is seeking a qualified Electrician to ensure the sustainability and safety of electrical power within IRC premises. The role involves routinely inspecting electrical systems, troubleshooting failures, and performing maintenance on wiring, fixtures, and appliances. The successful candidate will also manage solar systems and generators, ensuring all work adheres to safety standards and building codes.
Key Responsibilities
Inspections & Troubleshooting: Routinely inspect electrical systems including wiring, fixtures, and appliances. Identify faults or hazards and report them for immediate action.
Power Sustainability: Troubleshoot electrical failures to ensure continuous power supply. Fix or replace cabling and wiring while adhering to safety and performance standards.
Installation: Install new appliances such as ACs, fans, and refrigerators. Interpret technical drawings and bills of quantities (BOQ) to map layouts for electrical works.
Maintenance Management: Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures, plan and schedule repairs, and conduct periodic quality checks on equipment.
Logistics & Inventory: Verify electrical goods received in the warehouse against specifications and maintain inventory records for supplies.
Reporting: Document work progress, renovations, and installation outcomes. Provide estimates for materials and suggestions for equipment replacement based on budget and quality.
Safety & Safeguarding: Follow health and safety standards and comply with building codes. Uphold IRC's commitment to preventing abuse, exploitation, and harassment.
Requirements
At least a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized technical institution.
At least 3 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of solar systems and generators.
Fluency in spoken and written English.
Basic computer knowledge.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and bills of quantities specifications.
