The Electrical Technician is responsible for the safe and economic operation and maintenance of the power plant. This role involves ensuring the facility remains in a clean and safe condition, executing corrective actions, and performing emergency procedures to protect personnel and equipment. The technician will handle technical maintenance of motors, electrical panels, and high/medium voltage installations while utilizing advanced electrical measurement tools.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Maintain the plant in a clean and safe condition and take corrective actions as directed.
Perform emergency procedures to protect personnel and equipment during damage or safety failures.
Utilize and maintain tools to maximize their operating life and account for all materials and supplies used.
Ensure economical and safe operation and maintenance of the plant, strictly complying with safety regulations including isolation and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
Identify and maintain motor components such as injection pumps, cylinders, turning gears, and emergency stop systems.
Identify, repair, and substitute components in electric panels, including contacts, transformers, and fuses.
Operate equipment in MV (Medium Voltage) and HV (High Voltage) rooms and substations.
Use electrical measurement equipment such as digital/analogue multi-meters, frequency meters, DC sources, and oscilloscopes.
Monitor and record readings from pressure and temperature indicators (manometers, thermometers, digital panels).
Start and stop lubricating oil and HFO separators and manage alarm readings without supervision.
Monitor control panels for alarms and trips, and analyze equipment performance through abnormality graphs.
Perform general electrical installation and maintenance while supporting the plant's instructional mission.
Requirements and Qualifications
Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
At least 2 years of professional experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a power plant.
Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and interpret technical diagrams.
