The ELearning Systems Support Specialist at Maseno University serves as a principal technical advisor and leader within the eCampus department. This role is responsible for the comprehensive management, maintenance, and optimization of the University's Learning Management System (LMS) and associated digital educational platforms. The specialist drives innovation in digital infrastructure to enhance online teaching and learning experiences, ensuring that platforms are secure, reliable, and user-friendly for both staff and students.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Advisory: Serve as the principal technical advisor to the Director of the eCampus regarding digital infrastructure.
LMS Management: Oversee the management and maintenance of the Learning Management System (LMS) and other digital platforms.
System Architecture: Provide expert management of Moodle’s architecture, including plugins, backups, and system security.
Team Supervision: Supervise and coordinate the work of all technical staff assigned to the eCampus.
Innovation: Lead innovation in digital infrastructure to support online teaching and learning initiatives.
Support Services: Ensure timely and effective technical support is provided to staff and students using eCampus services.
Strategic Planning: Prepare technical reports and strategic plans for technology deployment in line with University objectives.
Requirements for Appointment
Education: Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Educational Technology, or a related field.
Experience: At least Five (5) years of relevant experience in ICT systems management, preferably in an Academic setting.
Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in managing online learning platforms and leading ICT teams.
Certifications: Professional certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CISCO, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of Moodle's architecture, PHP, HTML, CSS, and SQL.
Specialized Skills: Practical experience with Moodle plugins, system backups, and information security protocols.
