The Economist Intern will support Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen) in economic and financial analysis projects. The role involves developing models for tariff setting and performing sensitivity analyses to ensure the company's financial sustainability and project viability.
Responsibilities and Duties
Developing, maintaining, and continuously improving project analysis and tariff setting models to perform sensitivity and scenario analysis for all power plants.
Testing and analysing the impact of the tariffs on the Company financial model, ensuring that the tariff set adequately covers the Company’s revenue requirements over the forecasted period.
Conducting economic and financial analysis of current and future Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), ensuring that the proposed tariffs fully support the Company’s business requirements.
Providing input for new projects feasibility studies to ensure that projects have a high Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and advising on viability and applicable tariffs.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Must be prepared to serve anywhere in any of the business areas in Kenya.
