Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach and facilitate learning for early childhood learners.
• Serve as a role model, guide, counselor, mentor, and motivator for the learners.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive progress reports.
• Ensure the safety and security of all learners under your care.
• Design, organize, and facilitate engaging play and learning activities.
• Nurture the spiritual, moral, social, mental, physical, aesthetic, and emotional growth of learners (holistic development).
• Manage ECDE classes and keep professional and administrative records (including schemes of work, lesson plans, daily activity programs, attendance registers, and health records).
• Prepare and develop appropriate play and learning materials.
• Guide learners in the creation of their own play and learning materials.
• Identify and nurture unique talents in learners.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D+ (Plus) or KCE Division IV at O’ Level.
• Certificate in Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) offered by KNEC or the Ministry of Education (or an approved equivalent).
• Be conversant with the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) and other emerging learning trends.
• Valid registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
• Certificate in Computer Applications.
