Job Description
The World Bank Group (WBG) is seeking an Extended Term (E T) Temporary Driver to provide safe and efficient transportation services. The role involves transporting International Finance Corporation (IFC) staff, maintaining vehicle standards, and providing logistical support. The ideal candidate will be a professional with a commitment to safety, punctuality, and the values of the WBG.
Key Responsibilities
Safe Transportation: Safely and efficiently transport IFC staff to various destinations ensuring punctuality and adherence to schedules.
Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct regular vehicle inspections and maintenance checks, including monitoring fuel levels, oil, tire pressure, and overall vehicle condition, to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with safety standards.
Logbook Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date vehicle logs, including trip records, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities, in alignment with IFC reporting requirements.
Safety & Defensive Driving: Demonstrate defensive driving techniques to minimize risks and ensure the safety of passengers, pedestrians, and other road users.
Logistical Support: Provide logistical support during official events, meetings, and field visits, including route planning and coordination with relevant teams to optimize travel efficiency.
Stakeholder Communication: Act as a reliable point of contact for transportation-related inquiries, ensuring clear communication and professional interaction with staff and external stakeholders.
Route Planning: Stay informed about traffic patterns, road conditions, and local regulations to proactively plan routes and avoid delays.
Security & Protocols: Ensure the security of IFC vehicles and passengers by adhering to established protocols and reporting any incidents or concerns promptly.
Administrative Tasks: In collaboration with the relevant department, support administrative tasks related to transportation, such as ensuring insurance is renewed on time, vehicles are serviced, and KAPS parking and Expressway Toll accounts have sufficient funds.
Professionalism: Uphold IFC values by demonstrating professionalism, respect, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
Requirements and Selection Criteria
Education: Minimum of a secondary school diploma (KCSE) or equivalent educational qualification.
Experience: At least five (5) years of professional driving experience.
Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and professional references.
Skills: Defensive driving skills training is considered a strong advantage.
Language: Demonstrated fluency in English, both spoken and written, to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.
Geography: Comprehensive knowledge of Nairobi and surrounding areas, including routes, traffic patterns, and local regulations.
Soft Skills: Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment; strong interpersonal and client-focused skills.
Attributes: Proactive and adaptable personality; strong attention to detail and commitment to safety; ability to manage time effectively and maintain professionalism under pressure.
Citizenship: Preference will be given to local talent authorized to work in Kenya for any employer.
