Job Description
The Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), also known as the Office of the Ombudsman, is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Driver II. This role is essential for providing safe and efficient transportation services to support the Commission's mandate of investigating administrative injustice and improving public service delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe transit of personnel and goods, vehicle maintenance, and strict adherence to traffic regulations.
Responsibilities
Driving assigned vehicles as authorized for official commission business.
Detecting and reporting vehicle defects promptly to ensure safety and prevent major repairs.
Maintaining the cleanliness of the assigned vehicle at all times.
Ensuring routine service and maintenance of the vehicle are performed according to schedule.
Guaranteeing the security and safety of the vehicle, passengers, and goods while on and off the road.
Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date daily work ticket.
Carrying out routine daily checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical, and brake systems, as well as tyre pressure.
Timely reporting of any accidents and following up on police abstracts for the assigned motor vehicle.
Ensuring full compliance with all traffic laws and rules.
Conducting vehicle inspections and keeping all insurance documents up to date.
Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements and Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must possess the following:
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D or its equivalent.
A valid Class BCE Driving License free from any endorsement.
Occupational Trade Test Grade III for drivers.
Evidence of having passed the Suitability Test for drivers.
A First Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John Ambulance, Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBIT), or any other recognized institution.
A valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
Attendance of a refresher course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week within the last three (3) years at KIHBIT or any other recognized institution.
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
